Choose Safety for Life is public safety campaign that seeks to educate drivers, pedestrians and cyclists to join Maryland partners in reducing traffic crashes. The new campaign encapsulates all areas of traffic safety and capitalizes on five key steps. If everyone would B-SAFE, we can virtually eliminate traffic crash fatalities and injuries.

Buckle up.
Slow down – speeding kills.
Always drive sober.
Focus.
Everyone share the road.

I pledge to Choose Safety for Life when driving, walking or cycling. 
I promise to B-SAFE at all times.

1. Buckle-up - I will use a seat belt every time I drive, and make sure all my passengers are properly buckled up as well.
2. I will slow down, because I realize speeding kills. I will obey the posted speed limit, stop at red lights and stop signs.
3. I will drive sober. I will plan ahead and designate a sober driver or secure a taxi if I plan on drinking. I will not drive impaired by alcohol or drugs.
4. I will focus and just drive. I will avoid distractions, such as eating, texting or talking on the cell phone while driving.
5. I will share the road with pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcyclists and large truck drivers.
6. As a pedestrian, I will cross the road safely, using crosswalks.
7. As a cyclist, I will follow the rules of the road and wear a helmet.

Because I recognize the power of serving as an example of safe driving, I pledge to observe these basic rules every time I get behind the wheel, and I commit to share this message with colleagues, family members and friends – because lives are at stake.
